If you build or resell education technology, you should know that Intel Unite is finding new applications in education. Originally designed as a solution for hybrid meetings with both on-site and remote participants, Intel Unite is a great fit with today’s hybrid classrooms.

Intel Unite in classroom

Intel Unite: teacher's newest pet

If you’re not yet familiar with the Intel Unite solution, it’s a unified, single-device collaboration platform. Intel Unite runs on any PC with an Intel Core i5 or higher processor, making it easy to deploy.

In addition to meetings, Intel Unite’s open architecture supports applications including digital whiteboarding, cameras, lighting and temperature controls, and more.

California streamin’

Intel Unite is being used by the Anaheim (Calif.) Union High School District to improve access for students, teachers and guest lecturers. The district finds Unite’s wireless convenience and easy streaming to be a perfect match for collaboration, both within the classroom and without.

Based in southern California, the district oversees 8 junior high schools, 9 high schools, 1 alternative education school and 1 virtual academy. All told, the district has about 31,000 students.

The Anaheim school district first turned to Intel Unite in its search for a simple, reliable content-sharing system.

After testing several products, the district chose Intel Unite as the simplest, most cost-effective and most robust option. To power Intel Unite, the district also acquired PCs based on the Intel Core vPro platform.

The school district's results include:

> Secure and wireless content-sharing;

> Quick and easy streaming;

> Increased use of whiteboards.

In addition, Anaheim teachers can now control content to the classroom through a moderator mode, streamline lectures with Skype for Business integration, and use plugins that make it easy for them to control cameras from their Intel Unite app.

“We needed to simplify display connectivity across a variety of devices and platforms. We also needed to be able to easily stream content into the classroom,” says Erik Greenwood, the Anaheim school district’s CTO. “The Intel Unite solution helped eliminate these hurdles.”
