Creators, unlike the rest of us mere mortals, need a whole lot of computing horsepower. Acer feels their pain, and late last week introduced new hardware to help.
Acer’s new ConceptD line comprises high-end Windows 10 desktops, notebooks and monitors, all running on the latest Intel processors. Acer says all the ConceptD systems are designed specifically for professional and amateur creators, including graphics designers, engineers, architects, developers and filmmakers.
In all, Acer introduced 7 new ConceptD products. Here’s your tech provider’s roundup:
> ConceptD 900: This is a serious system for serious pro creators. It runs on two Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors, and also comes with up to 192GB of ECC memory and Nvidia Quatro RTX 6000 graphics. The system stays cool with 6 fans. North American shipments begin in July, with retail prices starting at a serious $20K.
Acer ConceptD 900: a serious desktop for serious pros
> ConceptD 500: Acer says this desktop is for creators who want to bring their work to a pro level. The system runs on a 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K processor, and it packs up to 64GB of DDR4 memory and Nvidia Quatro RTX 4000 graphics processor. An unusual white finish, woodgrain top, and smooth curves gives this system a distinctive, modern look. North American shipments begin in July, with retail prices set to start at roughly $1,700.
> ConceptD 9: This creator notebook features a special Ezel Aero Hinge, which extends, flips and reclines. Other nice elements include a 17.3-inch ultra-HD display, Wacom stylus, and 9th Gen Intel Core i9 mobile processor. The system packs up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and two 512GB SSD drives. This and the other 2 new ConceptD notebooks features Acer’s latest AeroBlade 3D fan, which includes a noise-reduction mechanism that keeps the sound down to a very quiet 40 dB. North American shipments will begin in August, with retail prices starting at about $5K.
Acer ConceptD 9: A notebook with a hinge
> ConceptD 7: Acer says this notebook is especially nice for video edting and rendering. Under the hood you’ll find a 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and GeForce RTX 2080 graphics processor. North American shipments begin in July, and the retail price will start at about $2,300.
> ConceptD 5: A magnesium-aluminum alloy case helps keep this system’s weight at a light 3.3 lb. And this notebook is well-equipped with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics processor. North American shipments are set for June, with retail prices starting at about $1,700.
> ConceptD CM7321K: This 32-inch monitor is aimed at 2D designers. It offer a 4K ultra-HD display, plus what Acer says is 99% coverage of the Adobe RGB color space. North American shipments begin in September, with retail prices starting at just under $3K.
